Define PMODefine PMO

Lets define PMO, PMO stands for Project Management Office, sometimes Programme Management Office. A PMO is a group or department in a business, agency or enterprise that defines and maintains standards for project management within the organization.

The purpose of a PMO is to achieve benefits from standardizing and following project management policies, processes and methods. A PMO generally will become a source for guidance, documentation and metrics related to the practice involved in management and the implementation of projects within your organization. For more information please see Setting up a PMO.

A PMO may get involved in project-related tasks and follow follow up on project activites to ensure completion. Generally speaking a PMO bases its project management principles, practices and processes on some kind of industry standard methodology, for example PRINCE2® or a bespoke method.
