NEW COURSES FROM CUPE:

  • PRINCE2 2009 - Launched in 2009, now firmly established. The main changes are: PRINCE2 projects can now be delivered using 7 Principles- with management scaled to project size. The Model provides a framework of 7 Processes, each containing Activities; these are supported by 7 Themes, with embedded Techniques. There are updated Role descriptions for decision-making, management and delivery with a new emphasis on Assurance. Management Products documents are reduced to 26 with a new section introduced on Tailoring PRINCE2.
  • AGILE PROJECT MANAGEMENT - Agile Project Management promotes a rapid production of prioritised product features delivered on time and cost. The traditional practice of creating solutions following detailed up-front plans and designs is replaced. Instead, Agile emphasises empowered team working, frequent and constructive cross-project feedback, responding to change to enable the best, high quality solution to evolve.
  • EARNED VALUE MANAGEMENT - Earned Value Management (EVM) can help determine whether a project is providing value for money. EVM concentrates on three basic parameters: How much work should have been done so far, and how much money has been spent so far and what is the value of work that has been achieved. By comparing these values, assessments can be made about a project' efficiency and where problems may lie.
  • MSP - MSP offers a standard and consistent approach to programme management. A Governance framework for senior management provides the basis to direct the change process whilst ensuring the focus remains on realisation of business benefits. Through regular project prioritisation and alignment, it encourages more efficient use of resources. Early Business as Usual integration drives efficiency from the organisation's portfolio.
  • M_o_R - Management of Risk is a framework, developed by the Office of Government Commerce (OGC), which helps organisations take informed decisions about risk in a balanced and consistent manner. It is based upon proven best practice and a broad historical body of knowledge and embodies a methodical, yet pragmatic approach to risk analysis and management.. P30 - Portfolio, Programme & Project Office training - brings together principles, processes and techniques to facilitate effective portfolio, programme and project management through enablement, challenge and support structures. P3O bridges the gap between strategy / policy makers and the delivery arm of an organisation.
  • APM - The Association for Project Management (APM) project professionals are able to demonstrate the five dimensions of professionalism; Breadth of understanding as defined by the APM Body of Knowledge; Depth of ability in line with the APM Competence Framework; Achievement through professional qualifications and a portfolio of evidence; Commitment through continuing professional development; Accountability through APM membership and the code of professional conduct.
  • OUTCOMES & BENEFITS MANGEMENT - Transformational change programmes should be characterised by benefits-driven planning and managing the realisation of benefits, in order to achieve strategic outcomes from the additional capability projects deliver. Learn to define and manage these outcomes and benefits.
  • PORTFOLIO MANAGEMENT - Clarifying the scale of the challenge when investing in change , re-appraising affordability, and taking action on programmes and projects which contribute to business strategy is why Portfolio Management is the essential discipline to balance 'changing the business while running the business.' Portfolio Management provides the necessary oversight for effective business transformation.
  • PRACTICES FOR DELIVERING CHANGE - Harnessing the power of change, from external or internal factors, is now recognised as critical to organisation success. The challenge is to draw from a diverse range of methods, techniques, and experience to create a collection of organisational best practice. This shows you how to do it.

There is not an official upgrade or bridging course, and users are not obligated to upgrade unless their certificate has expired.

Foundation does not expire. Practitioner every 5 years. If taken before the 5 years has expired the shorter version of the exam can be taken.

What are the pass marks needed for the PRINCE2 Exams? The Foundation Exam has 75 questions but 5 of the questions will be "trial questions" that will not be marked. The pass mark is 50% (35/70), questions will be based more on understanding, than knowing the method. The Foundation exam is a one hour multiple choice exam.

The Practitioner exam is a two and a half hour, complex multiple choice exam. There will be 9 topics which contain 12 questions in each that attract 1 mark per question. The pass mark is now 55%.
