WHO
Programme Managers, Project Board Members, Project Managers, Team Managers & Support Office Managers who need to deliver projects by inspiring others.
DURATION
This is a two day course with some pre-course preparation and evening work
EXAMS
A CUPE certification of achievement is provided. CUPE is an Accredited Project Management Training and Consulting Organisation.
PRE- REQUISITES
It is beneficial if individuals have experience of working in a project team or support office. An understanding of PRINCE2 is needed. The preparation CD and the book "People Issues and PRINCE2" are provided as a pre-course study pack.
OBJECTIVES
By the end of this course Participants will understand the requirements which must be in place to deliver effective project leadership. Including:
- Leadership throughout the PRINCE2 project lifecycle
- Recognise their own strengths and weaknesses as Project Leaders
- Understand how motivational factors impact on project teams
- Build a more successful project team utilising personality profiles and cultural understanding to reduce conflict and improve performance
- Plan their personal Project Leadership development
CONTENT
This two-day course is based on the latest research in project leadership combined with practical exercises, insights and observations from leading project teams in a complex environment. It includes ten modules in Project Leadership focused on the Individual, Team & Organisation:
- How project leadership differs from management
- Leadership in a matrix organisation
- Cultural influences in project management
- Personality profiles and project success
- Management approaches to leadership
- Leading virtual teams
- Conflict resolution in projects
- Effective stakeholder communication with PRINCE2
- Establish project organisation and maturity
- Create a personal project leadership action plan
APPROACH
This is a high level course for senior staff, providing a stimulating balance of intellectual and practical insight. A combination of trainer led sessions, tutorials with practical group working and research reviews delivered by an APMG approved consultant / trainer.
